Welcome to Year 6 parents, carers and students who will be joining Outwood Academy Foxhills in September 2020.
This page is designed to keep you informed about our transition process over the coming months, but also to ensure that any queries you might have are answered.

Full transition days: Wednesday 1st and Thursday 2nd July 2020 (Year 6 children spend 2 full days at the academy)
Open Evening: Thursday 2nd July 2020 (an opportunity to meet Heads of Department and to take part in some fun practical activities).
Should you feel that your child may benefit from having more time to familiarise themselves with the academy, staff and students, we have arranged a further 3 days where we can organise for your child to attend. The days we have available are:

Q. When is the first day for Year 7 new starters?
A. The first day of term for Year 7 is Thursday 3rd September 2020.
Q. What are the times of the academy day for Year 7 students?
A. All students should be in school at 8:15am prompt
A movement bell will sound at 8:20am
Period 1: 8.25am – 9.25am
Period 2: 9.25am – 10:25am
Break / VMG – 10:25am – 11:00am
Period 3: 11:00am – 12:00pm
Period 4: 12:00pm – 12:30pm
Lunch: 12:30pm – 1:00pm
Period 4: 1:00pm – 1:30pm
Period 5: 1:30pm – 2:30pm
Enrichment: 2:30pm – 3:30pm
Students will have a 15 minute break between 10.25 am and 11.00 am
Q. How do you pay for lunch?
A. The academy operates a pay online system, where an account will be set up for each student. Parents can then use the online account to add money or students may use the biometric (fingerprint) system to add money in the academy. Students on free school meals will have their money automatically added to their account for use at lunch time. Log on details will be provided to parents in due course. All students are welcome to bring a packed lunch on days they choose.
Q. How is the uniform provided?
A. A full uniform will be provided, free of charge, for all year 7 students. Trutex (our uniform supplier) will attend each primary school to measure the year 6 students during June/July. They will then deliver the uniform packs to the academy for collection. Dates for collection will be published nearer to the date where you may collect your child’s new uniform and have the opportunity to purchase more items should you wish to. If you are unable to make that date you can call in to collect your child’s uniform on any day after 12 August. Please note that any exchanges must be done direct with Trutex. There will be additional uniform ordering / collection days at Outwood Academy Foxhills later in the year. (Dates to be arranged and advertised on the academy website and school’s Twitter feed).
Q. What are the rules for hair/ makeup/ jewellery?
A. Make up worn by older students should be very discreet. Students will be asked to remove make up if it is not discreet. Hairstyle should be sensible and colours should be natural. Students will not be allowed in to lessons with unnatural hair colour. Hair accessories should be discreet and in black or purple. No scarves or bandanna’s ( unless for religious or medical reasons). No Jewellery is allowed except for a watch and medic alert bracelet or necklace. No body piercings including ear, nose and belly button etc, will be allowed. (Please arrange for any piercings to be done at the beginning of the summer break so they may then be removed in September.) No nail polish or false nails are allowed.

Following the changes to Government advice, from Monday 23 March our schools will be closed, except for providing childcare to a small number of children. During the period of closure we will not be able to collect correspondence sent via post. There are also only a small number of staff in the academy making it difficult to answer the telephone.
