The Art department aims to develop students’ observational and fine drawing skills as well as exploring the work of artists and developing a range of styles and cultures.
The Art course at Key Stage 3 provides students with the necessary skills and knowledge to access the GCSE Art & Design course 8 in Key Stage 4. Year 7 aims to focus on primary skills and basic observational drawing skills with year 8 starting to explore different cultures and developing observational skills in more depth, encouraging individual progression working with a range of techniques.

Component 1: A portfolio that in total shows explicit coverage of the four assessment objectives. It must include a sustained project evidencing the journey from initial engagement to the realisation of intentions and a selection of further work undertaken during the student’s course of study.
Component 2: Externally Set Assignment.
Students respond to their chosen starting point from an externally set assignment paper relating to their subject title, evidencing coverage of all four assessment objectives.
